Yeah. Not a typo. Killed this buck and found he had been in a fight. Took a tine up under the jaw and had a big abscess. The cape was not salvageable. This past November I arrowed a decent 8 but not what I had hoped for. So his cape was donated and the 2012 antlers went together with it. I'm pleased with it.

Good looking buck, I did the same thing a few years back with a deer that had a bad cape.

That’s cool! Twice the hunting story material in one mount. Nice. This particular deer hosed me the morning before I killed him. His 6th and 7th senses kicked in and he flat busted me for no reason. The next morning, about a half mile away, he came by again. SAME thing !!!!! His 6th and 7th senses kicked in and he looked smack up at me. Only difference this time was that I had the pin buried behind his shoulder when he looked up. Zipped him. But I have a trailcam pic of him in velvet.........one in hard horn........and one with the abscess. We had a little history.

Just got my 2021 buck “Wide Wille” back from dude that beetle cleaned and camo dipped it.
No previous history of this buck other a pic my brother got of him last August. He almost slipped by me, but my 7th sense said “time to ease around and look to my 8 o’clock”, and holy crap there’s a buck!!! 42 yards, butt towards me, body angle about halfway between quartering away and straight away. ran 75 yards and flopped.
Posted pic of him in Deer Hunting section.

Thanks, fellers !!!
The pic is actually washed out and pretty bad. But the mount is VERY well done. I've been blessed to be great friends with a gentleman who has been judged, in competition, to be the best overall taxidermist in the state. He also runs a school and teaches taxidermy. This period of time.........right now......is only the second time in the past 25 years that I have NOT had at least ONE thing at his shop to be mounted. The first time was only about a 6 month period. I tease him that I put his son through college.
