So my brother wants to convert an AR10 and put a bolt action upper on it. He has ask me to help him do this. I don't know what all is involved in doing this. Does someone make a complete upper that will be as simple as pushing the take down pins out and dropping a new bolt action upper on it? I am guessing it would be ok to leave the buffer/spring in place but it would not be doing anything, incase he wanted to swap back.
His AR10 is a Springfield if that matters.

Educate me on this, as I am at ground zero on this.

Company called Uintah Precision makes bolt action uppers but they are not cheap.

$1300 for the basic unit. A new Sig Cross is only a couple hundred more.
