I had an early 100 in .222 that absolutely would not feed. At all.

I wouldn't consider trading a Tikka for a Mauser as good as the Mausers are. LOP is just one of the concerns. Too much aftermarket support for Tikka these days.

Probably not a big deal unless you are in that group. Like I am.

If Blaser Group sold the Sauer XTA, which is stainless, in the US then I would buy one. I called the US office and the person who answered the phone said that it is a model for Europe and will not be imported. I hope that changes, and that they incorporate faster twist barrels. Other than that, they seem like nice rifles within their respective price range.

Why the Germans do what they do is beyond me. The American gun market is larger than the European market yet they hold some desirable pieces back. Sako/Tikka does the same thing.

Bringing this back up.......I've got a line on a Sauer Atacama 6.5 PRC. This LOP thing has me thinking though. I'm 6'2" FWIW. Wondering how those of you who have the 100's are liking them? I've got several Tikkas and want to try something else (gave the Tikka PRC to my son).

Johnny, I am 5'11" and that rifle shoulders well for me. It should suit you well even if you have a thick layer on. I should probably add that I don't like crawling a stock.

I cant recite LOP specs on each but based on personal experience at the bench for both the 100 xt and the m18...

I felt more comfortable behind the m18....which is why I dont think the LOPs for these 2 are identical.....I think the 100 xt is a bit longer.....

Outstanding rifle with a trigger every bit as good as a Jewel . My .270 win shoots consistent sub-moa 5 shot groups at 100 yards. I mounted a Swarovski Z5i 2.5-12. The loads that performed best were Hornady 140gr Interlock with 58.2 H-4831sc and a BR2 primer, 52.0hr of H-4350 gave same accuracy with a little less velocity. And the Barnes 130gr TTSX , 60.1gr H4831sc, and BR2 primer, and 130gr SST, 53gr H-4350, 210 primer . All of these loads gave me sub-moa groups from . . Even after 50 rounds I could still get five shot sub-moa groups. This gun shines

Sauer 100 has a traditional screw in barrel; not press fit. They share the same barrel production facility with Blaser and Mauser. Great quality barrel.

Sauer 100 / Mauser M18 = threaded barrel (like a Tikka)
Sauer 101 / Mauser M12 = press-fit barrel

I've got a 308 that I think is a mauser m12. Several of us here bought them pretty cheap from some place on the east coast a few years ago. It has a fluted 22" or so shorter barrel. I'd firgot about it until the other day I was looking for one of my sauers to finally get it to the range and pulled out the mauser. It looks like a decent rifle too so I'm going to put a scope on it and see how it likes my old 308 loads of 155 scenars over varget.

What features make it more desirable than a Tikka? Was about to recommend a Tikka to a buddy.

Not much, if anything......mags for the german guns have higher capacity........i got excellent deals on my sauer and mauser at the time......not sure theres a savings there anymore......

All are plenty accurate and not heavy to tote.

Maybe the 3-position safety?
