I was living in the Baton Rouge area when the prostitute scandal hit in '88. His ministry college/campus was deserted almost overnight. He was kicked out of the Assembly of God as a pastor. The real story started a few years before when he ratted out a competitor tv pastor named Gorman, IIRC. Swaggart ruined Gorman and Gorman vowed to get revenge. A few years later, Gorman turned over pics of Swaggart and a prostitute to the church, news media, and college board.

I have absolutely no use for him except as an example of "religious" people. He's another one that gives "Christianity" a bad rep.

Surprises me the amount of people that don’t know his family.
His cousin Mickey Gilley st passed away a month or so ago. The other one, “The Killer” is still alive and kicking. A few years ago, I saw him in a Casino Billboard in OK. Guess he’s still touring the small venues.
Swaggart is a snake. Always has been. He’s been swindling little old ladies out of their SS money for YEARS.

I don't believe any of the televised "evangelists" are on the up and up. I believe Billy Graham was the real deal and his son Franklin MIGHT be sincere (I'd give him the benefit of the doubt as the apple doesn't fall far from the tree). I once attended services at Kenneth Copeland's church and heard him speak. I was way up front and I could see his eyes quite well. Reminded me of the look of a snake and his message was trash, and I never went back. After that I learned about the type of minister he is...I had no idea at the time. Now I do. He's cut from the same cloth as Hinn and other charlatans.
True men of God are rare.
