Have a 50 cal T/C Omega all ready to go. Powder and projectiles, just need to find some 209's to lite up the BH209. I'll find some eventually, though who knows what they'll end up costing. Hoping to sooner than later, as I want to see if the QLA muzzle needs to go. Might just do that anyway while I'm looking for the primers. This will primarily be a tree stand gun on my 40 acres in NE WI. And if I don't find primers in time, my 54 cal Hawken is ready to go with plenty of both FFg and FFFg, #11 caps, patches and round balls. Half the fun for me is getting everything and getting it all set up.

Put yourself on every "Notify Me" list for every seller you can think of. You'll have 209s in less than a month if you act as soon as you get an in stock notice.

That's a little much. That's about the going price for 1,000.

Definitely won't be buying those! Plenty of other stuff to use.

Thats a fact! I have had to sideline my two Hawkens and use my inlines for two years.

You can make No 11 cap's, not so much a 209.

10Glocks & Dean Anderson: I was doing a gunshow here in SW Montana a couple weeks ago and on my "list" of stuff to buy for my partners has been 209 primers for many months now.
Anyway as I was setting up the table the neighbor table guy comes in with ten 1,000 primer cartons of Winchester 209's - I inquired and bought 2,000 of them for $60.00 per 1,000.
My table partner bought the other 8,000 (eight cartons) and promptly began selling them for $85.00 per 1,000!
He finished selling them all off this past weekend at the Post Falls, Idaho show for $90.00 per 1,000!
If you need them and can find them for $65.00 plus $25.00 shipping or $90.00 per 1,000 then I suggest you do so because they are NOT "easy to find" in my big neck'o the woods.
By the way I sold those primers to my friend for what I paid for them - $60.00 per 1,000 and he was THRILLED to get them! He KNOWS he owes me one.
I do NOT know if this component "shortage" will ever be over/end?

Can also convert to a variflame large rifle primer breech plug.

I handload so I already have primers and priming tool. Ordered the adapter bushings and the plug and I've been lighting BH209 with CCI 250 large rifle magnums. If you don't handload, a lee hand primer isn't terribly expensive. I think they are much more consistent and cleaner than 209s. I've shot them in pretty cold Temps without issue.

My encore has the QLA and it is a hammer with most things I've shot...including full bore Thors.

Be sure to use the hotter 209's with BH209, magnums are best if you can find them. The Muzzleloader labeled 209's are too weak.

Correct. BH209 lists CCI 209M or Federal 209A as the primers to use. Also like the idea of the Vari-Flame to use LR or LRM primers.

If I was still loading shotshells like I used to, there wouldn't be an issue.

Cheddite brand 209s become available quite often. Be careful. They may have a good reputation among shotshell reloaders. But they are very easily pieced in a muzzle loader. I've never had one fail to set off a charge. They're pretty hot and shoot a flame out past the muzzle. But my Traditions Pursuit pierces them 100% of the time. It never pierces CCI, Federal or Winchester. Piercing will eventually erode your firing pin and dirties the breech area pretty good.
