The pressure washer thread had several mentions of them. Unfamiliar with them.

Only use the special soap?
More effective than a hand wash? Any follow up needed?
Attach to P/W?
Are they all the same, or preferred brand?

etc.

Chemical Guys Foam Cannon

Soap is a bit thinner than the bucket soap

Use it on a P/W, sure!

Rinse, Foam, allow to work, rinse and done.

No brushes needed, much easier than hand wash.

The soap goes on with consistency of shaving cream. With a microfiber sponge it will help keep micro scratches out of paint. Just keep sponge rinsed out with clean water.
Not needed but pretty cool.

Never heard of the dang things.

That video was funny though, I thought the guy might say

"You might not believe this little fellow,

But it will cure your asthma too"

Don't worry, I enjoyed watching it, I'm just a skeptic at heart!

Yo do it do on heavy mud etc like on a tractor?

Regular pw will knock it down, but to get “clean”?

You still have to hand wash. The purpose of the foam cannon is to try and remove as much surface contamination to prevent scratches. In between hand washes I do a couple of foam washes. Helps keep it clean but doesn’t replace hand washing

I have a chemical guys brand one and it has been very good. I use their wash that is designed for this as it foams very well.

I haven't seen any of the detail type videos on Youtube where they used a foam cannon and then just rinsed. They all take a mitt or brush to the car/truck after the foam application.
You can use any type of car wash soap in it. I use this Armorall cut 50-50 with water.

I’ve never used a foam cannon, so there’s that….

To get something truly clean, I’d be very skeptical of not having to use mechanical agitation (brush, rag, mitt, etc).

Some videos made it look like magic. I might wash a vehicle once or twice a year so no labor savings. And, no improvement over a hand wash.

Guess I’ll pass.

Never heard of them. Thought it was like a potato cannon that shot foam bullets when I read the title.

Hey,

Mine gets washed about once a year whether it needs it or not. wink

Usually a coat of wax too, if I'm up to the challenge.

Mostly it just gets wiped down during rain showers, as it then gets a free soft water rinse!
