The Kewaunee/Door Counties WI Salmon Tournament starts on July 15th and runs through the 24th. I've been fishing it for quite a few years now, have placed, but nothing to show for it other than a great time. We go out of Sturgeon Bay, out through the shipping channel, and into Lake Michigan. At that point, it's quite a few miles out to the deep water and I really enjoy the travel time with my great friend Jon. Hopefully I'll have some pictures, and experiences, to share afterwards. Good luck! I've never fished it specifically but I know all the charter guys in Algoma/Kewaunee ask their clients to enter "just in case".

Thanks! My place is a couple miles north of Algoma right on the lake. Getting to know the owner of the "Hooked on Tackle" shop in Algoma, at least he pretends to recognize me! Lol!

Howies in Sturgeon Bay just changed hands. Owner sold to his employees and he's headed west.

I live in Kewaunee - I know the Blue Door tournament saw good turn out, good time but fish count wasn't what they had hoped. I've heard of some good size tho - just not numbers. I don't really fish much off shore so I only barely pay attention.

Lance, one of the guys that just bought Howies, is a real good friend of my friend Jon. That and $2 still gets me a cup of coffee! Lol!

Had fun fishing in the tourney and caught some nice fish, the largest I caught was a 24 pounder that was 38" long. As fun as it was, my fish just kept getting smaller and smaller as the tourney continued. A lot of bigger fish were being caught and checked in, from 25 pounds to over 30. While I won't get a check, I had a great time and, for the most part, it was beautiful out on the water!
