Gentleman,

I know I just recently read a replacement pad discussion, but I can't find it this morning.

I have a couple M70 wood stocks (pre-war / transitional) with old pads in terrible condition.
Is Pachmayr D752B Decelerator Red Medium size the correct fitment for these ?

Also have a 70 Classic older Brown PoundR that needs a replacement pad.
Would medium or small be better fit for PoundR?

(the Legend pad looks more orange than red to me?)

SG,
I suspect that this is the thread:

Another nice option to the pachmayr (if your heart isn’t set on red) is the Cervellati microcell available through Hastings. They are roughly half the weight (3 oz vs 6 oz) of the decelerator - if that is an issue for you.

The Legend probably has a Pachmayr decelerator on it. Sometimes those pads are more of an orange color. Or maybe they fade more to orange? I'd leave it as is. It still looks good. The only time I will replace a Pachmayr is if it gets hard or isn't fit properly to the stock. I had to recently replace the one on my new to me Brown PoundR stock. It wouldn't have surprised me if that stock was 15 years old, but still looked new. That decelerator was hard as a rock and on a 300wby, that is NO bueno!!! Also, if your pad is original to the PoundR, it is going to be glued and screwed on. Mine took heat to get it off. So there's that. Redneck can probably direct you better on that than I can..
