Cool, how old is your son Maser?

I have more red dots than Carter’s got pills, and the view through an decent LPVO with true 1x beats any of them. Like looking over a barrel without irons, and that reticle hanging right in the middle. Turn on the light and there’s your “red dot” but with no discernible framing or knobs blocking your view. Replaced a nice prism with a SWFA 1-4, and t was a marked improvement at 1x, and if you need it, magnification on tap.

The Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 on my Howa Grendel might just be my favorite scope.

Interesting. I pulled a swfa 1-6x off an AR. That one now has a red dot. Great scope that I really wanted to like, but just didn't work that way

Not unusual. Dots are useful for very young beginners. My son started age 3. By about 6 he was ready for a scope. At youth events some kids struggle with eye relief and focus, so like the dots. Then, irons are just as popular. Once they get basic skills, can't give them enough magnification. Kinda like us........

Bought my girls an American Rimfire Muddy Girl, pulled the dot
off my turkey gun and stuck it on the 22. Figured they would love
it, being less experienced, the younger one occasionally struggled
with field of view issues in a scope.

That’s unusual from what I’ve seen with new shooters. How did it work for you on your shotgun?

Fine. On a tight choked, lengthened forcing cone, turkey gun.
For turkeys, squirrels, and meat shoots.
Tried it on claybirds with an I/C choke. Suck city.
Me or the scope?
Don't know, but we sure didn't mesh!

The biggest deal with a dot I think, is to not focus on the dot, focus on the target and the dot will take care of itself. One easy way to get used to it, is to close the front cover or tape over it. Your left eye will see the target and the right eye will see the dot, your brain will put it all together.

We've shot clay targets at 50 yards with new shooters and dots and in short time, the shooter is picking off the little pieces until they're all gone. But the most frustrating thing for me is to try and shoot groups with a dot. I turn the dot down so it doesn't bloom with my astigmatism and get to focusing on the dot and groups open up. But start picking stuff off at the 50 yard berm and it's easy.

Shooting plates like in Steel Challenge is where the dots really shine.

I’ve only had 2032 models in my Aimpoints, Holosun’s and Sig’s so I have a good supply of them.

Best deal I could find on the Romeo5 was $119 from PSA so I ordered another one.

I put the Bushnell TRS on the 10-22 I gave my granddaughter for her 10 th birthday
She loves it.
Had to take away the 25 shot mag. or she was going thru a box in less than 5 minutes
Most of that time was in reloading.
She is older now and @ 50 yds she is more percise with her shots.
She can really rock the AR with the eotec out to 200.
