This past weekend I was in my LGS and he had a lefty Axis brand new 30-06 for $300. While I am not a huge fan of savage I figured why not. I like that its reasonably lightweight and seems to handle pretty nicely. I am aware of the glades armory bolt handles, but was wondering if there are any other little add ons i can put on this rifle to dress it up a little bit. I know it might be like putting lipstick on a pig, but its my pig so you guys just need to tell me what shade of lipstick smile

If it is an Axis II, the trigger is good to go. If it's the older model, the trigger can be modded for a much better trigger pull. The newer stocks are stiffer than the early ones, and they make a light rifle. Many upgrade to laminated stocks, but that is a big increase in weight.

Mine is the old one without the "accu-trigger" or whatever its called. I would assume i can put a timney on it right?

I will keep the original stock for the time being mostly because this is a beat around the woods hunting rifle. By no means do I expect it to be an ultra precise rig. Most of the hunting I do requires shots of less than 200yds (most of which are less than 100) so weight is far more important than upgrading to a stiffer stock.

If you go the replacement trigger route, consider the Rifle Basix. It works well and is less than $100. I used the trigger spring kit for about $15 and am happy. My only Axis is currently a .250 Savage.

I put an MCarbo spring kit in mine. Easy to install. Really improved the trigger pull. They have a YouTube video on the installation process.

Wow. I have this rifle in 350 too. Heck of a lightweight compact gun. Thanks for the info!

I haven’t tried an axis or axis II.

But i wouldn’t be afraid too.

All the savage 110 I’ve had have shot great.

Folks like to give Savage the blues. But they do support lefties.

Was looking at the website the other, they even offering a LH 6.5 Prc now.

I’d be all over a LH axis in 300 BO. Threaded over course. 😂😂

They actually offer the axis RH in 6mm arc. I would LOVE to see that one come out in a lefty
