That should be a fun one. I had a Ruger 77 220 Swift years ago - heavy target model. Extremely accurate and enjoyed the heck out of it.

Varmint? Tang safety? VT? Two stage trigger? Wood? Laminate?

Details, man, details.

Good to see you are out kicking azz on something. A good new toy like this Ruger will be therapeutic and well deserved. Let us know how it shoots.

Nice - good for you. Shot mine yesterday. So enjoyable - but probably not going to try it on Nilgai.

Nice.

There’s nothing like the feeling of a new gun. Well maybe a few things but it definitely ranks up towards the top😄

I still have the one I bought new in 1977 and it's always been a shooter. It's an old-school woodchuck rifle: heavy 26" barrel and fixed 16X Leupold. You may be looking at a ROT too slow for any bullet you might want to shoot nilgai with (saying that with only the vaguest idea what a nilgai is.)

Years ago, when it was fairly new, a friend of mine and I were shooting it at the gun club on the 200 yard range. When we got done, he wanted to take his target to show his father (who was a varmint shooter and reloader.) Some time later, I saw his father at a funeral or some such event in town and he said, "David showed me that target he shot with your Swift. I said, 'That's a pretty good group.' Then he told me it was 200 yards. If it'd been anybody but David I'd have called him a liar."
