Details, man, details. Yes. It's been 6 months since I've seen it I'll ask Harold tomorrow. I remember the blueing was nice as well as the wood, looked pretty much new.

I have that same in 22-250
Maybe only 3 boxes through it since I bought it in 1991 Same and about the same year I bought mine. My favorite gun, by far.

I had a heavy barrel Swift when Ruger first made them as a limited run. About 1976 I'd say. Great rifle.

The right bullet will get you there. Might have to go a little shorter but speed out of that cartridge should add a bit more stability maybe a shorter Barnes ? Be a fun experiment on tough game.

Not my first choice even for mule deer. But I know of a few elk killed with a 22 250 and with a Swift.
I doubt that Nilgai is any tougher than an elk. Punch a hole through the heart or the brain, it will die.

I was thinking Speer designed that to work in a 14 twist.
Pard used em in a 14 twist 222 anyway.

I used to have one with the heavy barrel and I topped it with a 6x24 Bausch & Lomb. It was my prairie dog gun and I tipped over some coyotes at long range too. In a fit of extreme stupidity I traded it for a 243.

Bought my 1 st one used in 1975 77v 220 Swift by 1982 the barrel throat was getting rough. Later I traded it on a colt ar figured I'd keep my eye out and another in better shape would show up, still have that one. Never used the swift on deer or antelope but others have. Mb

Pard used em in a 14 twist 222 anyway. I will check my Speer manuals when I get home. My experience comes from 60 gr Hornady and 63 gr Sierra would stabilize in my rifle while the slightly longer 60 gr Nosler ballistic tip would not.

I just looked in Speer #15 in loading notes for 220 Swift.
Speer specifically recommends 1 in 10 inch twist for the 70 gr SMP. Muzzle velocities range to over 3400 fps with slow powders. Speer states that 14 inch twist will stabilize their 55 gr bullets.
In regards to the 22-250, Speer makes the same cautionary statement that :"As a general rule" a 10 inch twist is required to stabilize the 70 gr SMP.
I can make no claims one way or the other from personal experience. I have not shot that bullet.
