Spent some time in the Northern LP this weekend. Friggin gorgeous weather. Tried out the trout magnet for the first time but need to lighten up my rig; windy & 6 lb test made for bow in line & inability to set hook fast enough but lots of strikes.

Caught brookie on panther Martin & brown on little rainbow trout jerk bait.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done an overnight canoe/camp trip. It was great but got cut short by thunderstorms this morning so we came home.

Just incredible country. Gonna bring my son in law up and do a trip.

Tough to beat a trip like that. Looks incredibly peaceful.

Sweet place. Man that water looks so great. We haven't had rain in something like 50 days and everything is on fire here.
I am sure everyone enjoyed it Eric.

Did you cook the catch ?

You know efw that we take having that kind of scenery and clear water so much for granted here in the Midwest, and we shouldn’t. I see the guys posting the dry, treeless expanse pictures and know that isn’t for me. 73 degrees here today isn’t hard to take either.

Amen I totally agree!!!

We sit out at the beach on Lk Mi and I say that EVERY time… I love Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, but dang can’t imagine not having big water around every corner like we do. The blue and the green it fosters really ought not be taken for granted!

I'm in the same camp. I need the water around me, clear and available. MI, the Yoop, N Wisconsin etc - hard to give this up.

Replace those treble hooks with singles and you'll catch more of the missed strikes.

Missed strikes came on single-hooked 1/64th Oz trout magnet jigs not the treble-hooked spinner/jerk bait pictured
