In sudden need of boots, My Schnees Sheep Hunters just suddenly split open, they could be resoled but time is a huge factor here, Lowa sends the boots to Germany for repair according to their website,

Then I don’t even see the Sheep Hunters on Lowas website nor Schnees website, Are they still being made?

I do see the GTX extreme on Lowas website, similar in construction but no wide sizes?

Not against buying new, or resoleing, Just need to find what and where.

Most people don't really want the truth.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I used Lowa boots on my Nepal Blue sheep hunt this April. They were perfect and very comfortable. They did not require any real break in.

Lowa and Zamberlan fit my wide feet well and are virtually interchangeable for me. They require little breakin from my experience. If you have to go the new route, I would look at Zamberlan if you can't find what you want in Lowa.

I agree. Zamberlans and Lowas fit similarly for me. I prefer the non goretex leather lined boot style which is becoming increasingly hard to find.

I am an unashamed fan of the Lowa Hunter GTX Evo Extreme for mountain hunting. I think they take more break in than some here suggest, but not a terrible amount.

I think someone on here had an issue with a roller eyelet or a lace stud breaking, but that is about the only issue I ave ever heard of with Lowas, assuming they fit a person's foot.

Zamberlains have a good rep too, but I haven't used a pair enough to have an opinion. I just haven't seen a reason to drift away from Lowa.

Thanks for the FYI, I did call and talk to Dave, He believed he could rebuild the boots and get them back to me in time, but it would be close,

So with the 175.00 in repairs and shipping, then the turnaround time,

I decided to purchase new, wide size no longer available but the new ones should be here tomorrow,

Should know if they fit good real quick like, then break them in as well has possible, if not, overnight shipping of the old ones to Dave.

Lowas are my go to boot, Rangers, Banniffs and the Sheep Hunters, Noting to be ashamed of,

The Banniffs are starting to show their age as well, And those also are no longer made,

The leather lined Baffins might be my next ones.

This was very good advice, thanks.
I did send the boots to Dave’s and they resoled them at a very reasonable cost,,,120 plus a little shipping, Boots look like new.

Again, thanks for info.

Lowa Banffs were a heck of a boot. A bit more svelte and less heavy duty than the tibets/baffins but good enough for most stuff.

My Banff’s are my all around boot,

Leather lined, no goretex, Perfect from hiking in summer to hunting in the fall.

Might send those to Dave also for a resole, The leather is still in decent shape, Believe I’ve had them for about 10 years, maybe even longer.

I had some for years. Loved them. Feet changed with age and went to Hanwag Tatra Tops. Excellent boots, too.
