Looking back. I would say: 243 Win. 308 Wen. 270 Win.
I don't think I ever had a deer run off after I shot them with a 243. More dead right there than not, with the other two.
I did a run with a 7-mm Remington Magnum, I shot a lot of everything for a few years as well. Moose to rabbits. Most any and all will work fine for deer. Need to put the bullet in the right spot.

Can’t remember. It’s either a .243, .257, 7x57, .30-30, .358, .38-55, .45 ML, .45-70 or a .50 ML.

I have a 21” Fieldcraft in 6.5 Creedmoor that I bought new from shortactionsmoker a while back I suspect it’ll be the favorite someday. I have Tanner’s old 243 Ackley and a Tikka in 308 that I’m pretty fond of, as well. Barrett fieldcraft 7mm-08 rifle 21" To me it's the perfect whitetail gun

Hello Jenkins9, Welcome to the 24 Hour Campfire.

My favorite deer rifle is whichever one I happen to be using at the time. I hunt with a 243, 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 mostly. I bought a 30-06 and may use it some this year. Also have hunted with a 270, 7X57, 35 Rem, 44 Mag, 6.8 SPC, and 44 Mag.
If, for some reason, you put a gun to my head and told me that I had to go kill a deer today, or else, I would probably drag my Model 700 Classic 270 out of the safe, and use it with the utmost of confidence. I've killed a slew of deer with it, and the only reason I don't hunt with it now is because I just like shooting different rifles.

Montana Rifle Company XWR-SS .308 Win with a Nightforce NXS Compact 2.5-10x42 Barnes TTSX 130 grain @ 3100 fps. Nice buck and nice rifle. I have a similar looking MRC X3 chambered in 6.5CM that is one of my go to rifles. At the time that I bought it I wanted the same rifle in 280AI but I was a day late so bought the 6.5 CM. That MRC a Marlin 336 that I shot my first buck with and a CZ 527 chambered in 6.5 Grendel get hunted with the most but I like working other rifles into the rotation. I’ve never owned a rifle chambered in 270 but have always thought that a wood stocked Kimber 270 Win would be a just about perfect western deer rifle.
