Has anyone else seen the announcement by United Airlines that in November 2022 they will start direct flights from DC and JFK to Cape Town on the 787. Seems like that will be by far the fastest way to get to the Eastern Cape or Namibia, as opposed to going through Europe. Looking forward to see what the prices are like.

Back in the day, the Houston to Miami on Continental and South African Airlines from Maimi to Cape Town used to be the best way. SAA used to be run by Lufthansa, and we loved their service.

I read that Delta was going to change their Jburg flight. Atlanta to Jburg, then on to Cape Town before back to Atlanta.

So Atlanta to Cape Town would have a stop at Jburg. Because of elevation, it is much more efficient to start the flight back to Atlanta from Cape Town.

Delta announced a nonstop from Atlanta to Cape Town, beginning Dec. 17. It will operate Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Anything, and I mean ANY THING to avoid JNB.

Wife and I just got back from RSA via United, Newark-JNB.Started from Omaha,Chicago, Newark and return same route. One of six flights left on time, had to run to catch connecting flights twice made it by ten minutes. The bags did make it,lots of horror stories from others. If carrying guns and reentering through Newark better have two to three hours.
Will have more on the actual hunt when I get time, it was quite harrowing time with the Cape buffalo.

Technically all of Africa is within driving distance from CT, but within 3 to 4 hours there are a few game farms within a reasonable drive. But a quick flight up to Durban and you have all of KZN at your fingertips.
