GI bleed? How long will I be out once I leave the hospital?

If it was a bleeding ulcer it'll take a little while to heal. They usually prescribe Protonix for a couple months. Was it an upper or lower bleed? If they gave you blood it'll take a while for your blood to build back to normal

My dad had an upper GI bleed last year. Gotta be careful as your vomiting blood everywhere there's the possibility of aspiration into lungs. Can set up an infection. If you take advil, aspirin, or any other nsaid they'll probably tell you to discontinue

I passed out in a chair, woke up in the morning and chicks had covered my sunglasses and entire face in toothpaste. Freeked me out until I figured out what happened.

Since you’re throwing up frank red blood then it is certainly a upper bleed. Like mentioned previously they will put you on a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) like Protonix. It will limit the amount of acid your stomach produces and allows your stomach lining to heal. Expect dark tarry stool for a while.
