I have wanted a reproduction of the S&W Scofield for some time now. Of the companies (Taylor, Cimarron etc.) that sell them is one better than the other as far as fit and finish requirements or are they pretty much the same.?

Both of those companies are importers. The Schofield they both bring in with their own brand name on them are made by Uberti of Italy.

The only difference is finish. Both companies order in batches, so it depends on who ordered what and when. If you’re looking say for a 5.5” nickel, well then you’ll have to buy from whomever last imported that particular gun. But the guns themselves are all the same, made in the same factory. The two importers will sometimes do different spins on finish to try to set themselves apart. But when it comes to the military style blued guns, they’re identical except for the importers roll mark.

There was a Model of 2000 made in the Performance Center from 2000-2003, they retailed about $1500. Very nicely done. Last one I saw was $2500.

Great choice! Same here. Would love to have one myself! Maybe someday! Every time I re-watch Ben Foster slinging them around as Charlie Prince…it makes me want one that much more!! Good luck, and please post pics when ya get one! 😎
