At 63 I will have been retired for 16 years. It's a good gig and good for you getting out of Oregon.

Shutter the famdamily business after 80 years[39 for me] and walk away?
Selling would facilitate the above.

Struggling, dad worked here until 80+, grandad worked here until the day he died.

Again ENJOY!
Schittt.

Cut slingload on that Reaford.
Anyone else in the family gonna carry the business after you???
If so give it to them and bail.
If not bail.

Enjoy every minute and don't ever look back.

I pulled the plug just over a year ago and now every day is Saturday. Sounds like you’ve got the finances all set.

Well.
Better you spend all mine while I'm waiting for it, than some fugg who has never worked getting the gratuitous freebie rate SS payment on my behalf.

I always try to look at the bright side of schitt.

Looks pretty damn green to me. Will be looking around S Ut. in a couple weeks.

My current job is writing SW for a device that makes drones do things their operators don't want. Like fly off into the sunset and crash into a hillside.

So if I move into your neighborhood, be careful where you take pictures. wink

Don't be like Dad, or especially Grandad.

No way! Dad has been pushing me to close it.
Wife and I[she's here as well] have been working on an exit strategy since covid hit, the call yesterday came out of the blue.
I could walk from the business easier than I can walk from the property that has been my primary hunting grounds for 25 years.
The land our son grew up hunting on, he'll be heartbroken even though he has plenty of other places now including his inlaws where he lives.
Doing this basically means leaving everything that we've known for the past 25 years from work to play.

Total quick upheaval. Head spinning!

Why the 2 week notice? It's not like he might need to go back to work there.

Very happy for you... Congratulations!

Unlike many areas of Utah.....our winter snow pack was good to us

Newly rebuilt reservoir held 94% capacity....most it's ever held !

Having water means owning water shares with your water canal company for irrigation

Secondary outside is available in towns and paid with your regular utility bill

Available mid April till late September

Culinary water ? I pay $17.25 a month for an allotted 10K gallons......I use 3-4K at best

Southern Utah ? Depends where ya go.......St George ? crazy busy & trying to build...

They mentioned running a pipe line from Lake Powell to St George......ha LOL........Powell is D R Y

Go visit the area...Your wife might say.....'This ain't green Oregon'

pic our reservoir at 94% in June

Coming down tomorrow night[been over a month].
Been kicking around making an offer on a little lot out by Douglas Lake.
1.5 acre but it is secluded.
Haven't had any visible neighbors in 35 years and now I feel that we'd just be damn UN-neighborly if we did.

Why work another half a year if you don’t need the money?

Nevada may not have state income tax; like getting a raise. I’ m sure someone on the fire can fill you in.

I'm planning on retiring by the end of this year, Lord willing. Pension is locked in - if I stay longer it won't increase, so after 47 years at the same job it's time to say adios.
