In addition to a fishing expedition for some doc that might incriminate him or indicate that he has some classified stuff under improper conditions ("look what I just found"), my view is that the main (and unannounced) purpose was to find something - anything - that would add some energy or give new life to the now failed exercise on the Jan 6 activities.
