Friend of my wife gave my son and I a project jeep for our farm just to putz around in on the property. I want my son to learn how things work and how to work on things. Its a 2.5 liter and was already lift with 35s on it. It started and ran if I sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body. We figured out that the gas line at the tank was split. Pictures are not in any order - sorry I’ll report back as we get it running and fixed up. Greg

I had an 89 - similar rig in red. I hope you have some gear to move those 35's. Mine was gutless on stock rubber.

I had a 4 banger ‘91. Had like 110K miles on it. Rust free.
Best mod I did was put power steering in it.
I lifted it 3 1/2”. Put a Fabtech suspension in it. Took out the traction control arms. Made it much more comfortable and off road worthy. Much better articulation.
Fabricated a bracket and put a ammo can under the hood where the air conditioning bracket was as it didn’t have an air conditioner. Put tools, gloves, winch controller and such in the ammo can.
Put on 32” tires as much bigger, it was even more gutless.
I put in an on board air compressor. Had a 9,000 pound winch on it. Put in a tow hitch on the front so I could tow it anywhere as it was gutless on the highway.
I miss that rig. Was a fun project.

As Teal stated I hope you have some gears in that thing. The 2.5 is anemic as they come. Jeeps are a lot of fun and mechanically great to learn on! I kind of have a YJ....well my springs are YJ. With YJ springs Before upgrade

Thanks guys! Jack is learning hands on! All of the parts arrived today so this weekend we will get it running.
No highway or hills outside of 4-wheel drive for this one. Just gonna roam around the farm and fire trails.

Those will be memories of a lifetime for both of you. That kind of stuff is what makes life worth living. Send pictures as you progress and of your time in the woods.

He and my daughter will learn to drive it in a 60 acre field. Life skills. There is a railroad bed for it to roam too.
Forgot its a ‘95 L2S!

Hey that's plain cool!
I believe I have a brand new soft top for a YJ with half doors. If you're interested PM me, I'll let you have it if you'll split the shipping from CO with me.

Thank you Taylorce1 - I actually picked up a “pretty” nice hardtop yesterday. Ordered the hardware kit and seal kit from Amazon - we are close to complete. Lighting improvement, fix tail light short, brush guard and actually attached side steps. The ones on it are bolted into the sheet metal! 😏

I believe the 4 banger ones came with a lot lower gear, like 4.10 or so....made those the best candidates for an engine swap to a V8 or something similar.

Great looking rig! Those 4 bangers can take some serious abuse.

Thank you Taylorce1 - I actually picked up a “pretty” nice hardtop yesterday. He'll want that hard top off in the summer! Just let me know when he wants it. It has all the hardware for the top as well, and I've verified it is still in my shop. I ordered a brand new one for my daughter's YJ and had it shipped to my parents. Gave it to her for Christmas, and waited for spring to put it on. At that time we realized Rock Auto shipped the wrong part number, and we couldn't get a refund because we were past 90 days.
