I use an 8” futon on plywood. It is better than mattresses costing me 3k$.

And its the ONLY mattress for campers or outdoors because it has a cheap foam core wrapped with cotton batting so it never turns into a solid ice block when cold and always stays cool in hot weather.

You can also rotate it any which way but loose. These things solved every physical pain I had too.

I initially used them for camping and was like man, my body doesn’t hurt.

I am on the search also , difficult not being able to lay hands on one beforehand . Winkbed looks good, anyone have first hand experience with them...Joe

I purchased a 3 inch Egg Crate Foam pad off of ebay. cut it to fit and unzipped the mattress, left the original pad in the mattress and placed the new egg crate on top of everything and zipped it back up.

It was a cheap experiment and it worked out for me real well.
We tried ordering a new pad from Sleep Number and they wanted way to much for my pocket book.
They were going to give me a discount but it was still to much.

I bought a Casper and it was way too firm but after 4 years it has softened up and now I like it. Being uncomfortable for that long was too high of a price to pay....

We had a water bed ......but it caused us to drift apart.

We got a Saatva mattress three years ago and the damn thing is already sagging in both spots where we sleep. We rotate it around and it isn't worth a damn. Got the firmest one they had.

Might have to look into a Sleep Number or some mattress that will air up so it wont sag.

I hate shopping for mattresses. Wife's wanting a new one but nothing stresses me out like mattress shopping. I never seem to get it right. I've bought some expensive ones and still prefer to sleep on the couch.

My try a higher end sleep number this time. The adjustable bases seem really overpriced.

You have the whole process of acquiring a mattress down to a tee. The only thing worse is trying to buy a car that satisfies my wife.

Wife got one, it's the best I've ever been on. Hard as a rock, keeps me cool. No topper, that's just a recipe for sweat. I'll figure out what it is and let you know.

I like a soft mattress. Got drunk and ordered a 12" thick memory foam mattress off amazon a few years back. Like $350

One of the few drunk purchases that worked out ok, as thats the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on

Yes, I hear this is the way to go. Might try one in our new camp trailer. Wondering if that would be a good fit for that application.

Higher end Tempurpedic that started to suck after only 5 years or so for me and from day one for my wife. My back has gotten worse over the years and the mattress no longer offers the support I need.

I sleep in the recliner couch a lot, or on a single bed in the guest room that has a stiff regular mattress.

We're looking into getting something from one of the "local" NorCal or S. Oregon mattress makers, a traditional type.

Mattress shopping, like buying tires. Can't take them back for a full refund ..................USUALLY after they've been broken in and you find they're not suitable.
