Going look at one it's not running now but was not long ago. The lady doesn't ride it very much it sits most of the time. May be a dirty carb & Gas she wants $250 as is might buy it for that price hard to pass up.

Worth several times that if you can get it running. We had two of them until the late 90's or so. Great machines. Thought we really had something with the electric start, reverse, and actual rear suspension!

My buddy has one and still uses it around the homestead. It's dragged one hell of a lot of deer out of the woods for both him and me over the years.

Bought the Big Red yesterday it's a 1985. It looks better since I power washed it would post pictures if I could figure out how to do it on this site. I have no problem posting them on the Honda forum I visit.

A lot of my rancher friends had them years ago. A lot of them also ended up with broken bones ridding them. Be careful!

Here's the only picture I think I have of my 1986 Big Red. The pistol is a S&W Model 39, the fish are pickerel. Somehow I combined wheelin', shootin' and fishin' at the same time. Lots of fun to be had back in the day!

We had one growing up, dad sold it to get the blue 300 fourtrax when it came out. Joker he sold it to flipped it soon after and spent some time in the hospital.

Three wheelers are the reason that they came out with four wheelers. I'd ridden street and dirt bikes my whole life and a buddy let me ride his Big Red three wheeler. Painful lesson #1: Do not put your foot down off the pegs going around a corner. Lesson #2: Do not lean where you want the bike to go. There was one pine tree in an entire field where I was riding and it was like that tree was reeling me right toward and into it. Entirely different skill set than a bike or four wheel ATV. People that had them could really ride them and that wasn't me, and most people evidently or they would still be available. I remember reading about them when they first came out. Dirt Bike Magazine called them cute, but not very practical.

Put me down as someone who misses the 3-wheeler years. 250R or Big Red - don't care, they were always fun. 200x can still be had for shenanigans. There's also a company making conversion kits to turn modern off road and motox bikes in the 3 wheelers too. Big bucks - like new Rigby rifle prices but would be a pile of fun with modern suspension. 450R thumpers...

That motor/trans combo can't be killed. I believe there's a guy on 3wheelerworld who rebuilds carbs for cheap...he's got a test motor and everything to make sure they're shipshape before returning. I've rebuilt one of these carbs and it's not terrible but there are lots of jets and needles and positions of things that need to be kept straight, and if anyone's messed with it in the past then all bets are off.

We grew up with a 200S. Inlaws all had 4-wheelers. I'd way rather ride my current 250sx than any of the family 4-wheelers. Light enough to manhandle, and not sluggish. They get interesting on off-camber downhill stuff though. Better have a bailout plan.

A big red for $250 is a screaming bargain. Very useful tool.

When I picked up the Big Red the seller said it had electrical issue. Got to work on it today was an easy fix took out spark plug to check for spark. Ignition Coil wire was broken in boot. Was able to get threaded screw out of boot half ass soldered it to coil wire screwed in to boot plugged back to spark plug fired up Idles good, no smoke. Got a few parts to buy for $250 ain't complaining.

Isn't that the truth. We spent the last 3 days in the hills with our SXS. On rocky trails, it's hard enough to find 2 tracks for the tires. Finding 3 tracks would be impossible. They don't straddle rocks, they have to bounce over them.
