Just getting back into reloading the 30-30 this year. Picked up some speer 150 gr. hcfp & will be using Hodgdon Leverevolution powder.
Anyone have issues with these expanding on whitetails ? Seen some reviews about being a tough bullet.

I used the Speer bullet and LVR on the last deer I shot with the .30-30. There were no issues, as the deer just dropped from a double lung shot. I shot it broadside at about 55 yards, nice exit wound. And the deer fell on the side that was facing me, and didn’t take a step. I think you’ll find the combination satisfactory. BTW, I was getting about 2350 fps from the 20” barrel.

I'm hoping to get 2400-2500 fps with it. I'd also like to try it in my 3006 around 2600 fps.
On speers loading data page they list this bullet under 30-06. Most of my shots are under
100 yrds.

It should do well for you, might be explosive at 2600. Good luck when you do use it!
