Last year, my 336W microgroove-barreled rifle wasn't shooting 160gr FTX's worth a hoot, and I wanted to dry different powders/velocities to see if I could dial it in....

I did multiple loads of the FTX 160, along with Nosler, Sierra, and Hornady 170 gr round/flat noses as a control group.

Here was my rifle's final results:
- All 170gr loads of velocities between 2,000 and 2,200 fps shot very well, absolutely no reservations with any of them if I needed to load up a box and go hunting.
- NONE of the loads of the FTX 160's with velocities between 2,000 and 2,300 fps shot worth a hoot! (those same FTX's shot very accurately in my Win 94 (1975 vintage))

So, bottom line is I still like the 336 and will feed it anything-but FTX's, but I don't have to sell the FTX's, I'll just parse them out to the Win 94, which shoots everything well.

Testing is now completed!!

It was lots of fun, and I got a lot of trigger-time out of it.
