The Still fire in Nevada County. Aircraft were overhead to and from dumping water/retardant. Mandatory evacuation in effect. Dogs guns an other sundry valuable made it out, but no livestock trailer for my goofy goats. They’re probably fine, as they’re in a highly defensible space that has near zero fuel within hundreds of feet.

But there’s still a huge laundry list of crap to do as far as fire defense. Ironically I was supposed to go look at some wooly lawnmowers just about now, to even further reduce the fire season fuel load.

Oh, and yes, the fire looks like it’s just mop up now, hence my ability to post about it.

Huge relief when your home isn't burned to the ground in a forest fire. I know, I've been there. Twice now in the last few years we got lucky.

That's terrible. Hope you come out of it unscathed.

Right before we bugged out. Big guardian dog puppies still hate the four wheeled monster. Cleaning out dog vomit will be the worst of this episode.

Fire defense prep was a priority, and is now even more so.

Definitely dodged one on Saturday. Yesterday my son found a good sized cinder at the lower end of our property, in the middle of the trail we have down there.
