Inside of 400 yards is there any advantage to an ELDX over the standard Interlock? I’m thinking about the .277 145 ELDX vs the 150 Interlock.

IMO “NO”! At ranges of 400 yards and under, the improved BC offers little to no benefit! And with my very limited testing and use on game……the Interlock is far superior in construction and will perform better on high velocity impacts? memtb

I've great respect for the Interlock. Especially at distance you speak of.

Both work just fine. Wind drift will be better on the Eldx.

I don't think there is a " far superior construction" component but i have had great luck with both

Op will be fine with either one at the ranges he intends to shoot. There would be a little difference in performance, but not enough to even be concerned about.

In my experience, the ELD-X will fight the wind better and expand more violently.

"Inside" 400 yards, it's a moot point..

I agree with you completely.
Just like most of the differences which on paper seem to mean something and which on the field are absolutely irrelevant.
But differences they still are.

I've got one rifle that shoots my ELDX handloads and American Whitetail Interlock loads to the same POI at 100yds. If I'm hunting hogs, or going to a spot where I can't see past 250yds or so (I have a lot of these spots around here), I often grab the Interlock load. I agree with the posts above, regarding the more violent expansion of the ELDX versus the plain Interlock.

I agree with the comments above and have had good luck with the interlock. The reality is over the past 32 years of hunting big game I've only taken a few animals between 4-500 yards and I can't remember a single one I've killed past 500. I'm sure many people have, and I'm certainly not opposed to it, but for me I have had plenty of opportunity at less distance even hunting wide open country.

In a 270 win pushing a 150 grain bullet from 2750-2850 fps a standard Interlock seems about perfect. I haven't used the ELDX personally, but have witnessed several deer and elk killed with the bullet. And if the Interlock is regarded as a little more robust and holds together better I would prefer that.

Oddly enough in the 270 win I'll be using this year I have a 150 Accubond load that shoots the same POI as a 150 Interlock at 200 yards. The Accubond is 45 fps faster but the Interlock is stupid accurate. I'm more than comfortable hunting with either.

I may run the Interlock for both deer and elk. At sub 400 it has to be as good or better than the ELDX.

I imagine the ELDX is similar to the ABLR in many ways. I’ve only shot paper with the ABLR. But I’ve shot a lot of game with the Interlocks. It’s hard to beat the Interlock’s on game, obviously that’s my choice.

Does the InterLock ring on the ELDX differ from the InterLock ring on the actual InterLock bullets?

Yes it costs more.

In my experience using both bullets. The ELD-X is much softer and will destroy more tissue. With that said it is deadly accurate, and feel confident out to 600 yards with it. At least banging plates. Farthest on game was an antelope at 463 yards.

I would not be afraid to use the 150gr IL on anything a 270 is capable of. Going away shot on a 225 lb boar. Broke left hip, exited between right shoulder and neck.
