She appears to be at death's door. And despite your feelings about the British and the monarchy, now is not the time to chuck stones. She has been queen for 70 years. She has seen and lived through a lot of history. She has a large family and will leave a void when she dies.

Her family has gone to Balmoral. Her doctors have said that they are concerned about her health. This suggests that her death is imminent because it is not normal to publicly comment on her health.
---

From one of the news articles.

LONDON - Queen Elizabeth II is under medical supervision at her summer residence in Scotland after doctors raised concerns about the 96-year-old monarch's health, Buckingham Palace said Thursday, as members of the Royal Family rushed to be at her side.

The announcement by the palace came a day after the queen canceled a virtual meeting of her Privy Council when doctors advised her to rest following a full day of events on Tuesday, when she formally asked Liz Truss to become Britain's prime minister.

May she now be in the company of Prince Phillip and her beloved horses that have passed on before her.

She was a great queen blessed with good common sense. Sad Day indeed.

In my view, the Queen brought dignity to Canada and I always thought she was sincere, she will be missed.

She is going to be missed. I still hold to my oath of allegiance to the Queen when I joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1979 even though I retired in 2006.
I also had the honour of meeting her as a child in Izmir, Turkey. She was there as part of a Royal Visit. We were the only Canadians at the reception so she broke protocol to chat briefly when she saw the Canadian flags we were holding. Very cool experience.
Rest In Peace Your Highness!

A busy day. King Charles was officially declared as Canada’s sovereign this AM. It began at 10 AM eastern.

A ceremony to proclaim the accession of King Charles as Canada's new sovereign will take place Saturday morning at Rideau Hall.

Gov. Gen. Mary Simon will meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet to sign an order in council and a proclamation of accession that will officially announce the Queen's death and proclaim Charles as Canada's new monarch.

Hey Steve, would you mind explaining for me what that means for Canada? Does it have a tangible impact for the everyday Canadian, or is that more ceremonial?

Sure. It doesn't really mean that much.

Canada is a "constitutional monarchy". We are governed by laws of our constitution, so King Charles is a figurehead and has no governing authority whatsoever. The UK has no governing authority either. Britain has no power to enact any laws, order us to war, or any anything else. Having a king or queen is a nod to bygone days when the British came to Canada and decided that they would be the ones in charge.

In the coming days, we will see the arguments that suggest we sever all ties with England. Canada is getting closer to that, as are the British themselves. Fewer Brits side with having a monarch as well.

Edited to add: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_Canada

This is a dry read, unless you are a history buff. It explains what Canada's constitution is. The father of our present prime minister, his name was Pierre Trudeau, got this document legalized in 1982.

Thank you Steve for that excellent response, it is much appreciated. I always thought that the relationship was more formal than just ceremonial. I'm enjoying learning about Canada here on the Canada forum. Thank you again.

You're welcome.

The Commonwealth will be in mourning for the next eight days, so there won't be much talk about what to expect from the new king. Some websites to keep an eye on are -

All the best.

For those of us who have stood cenotaph or ceremonial guard/honour guard duty, this is probably the thing that scared almost everyone.

A guard goes down guarding the Queen's casket.

Locked his knees.

May the Queen RIP. She truly loved her country and that type of undying patriotism is something that I can respect.

DGAS about royalty, blood lines....
Is what it is though.

She was were she was simply by winning the birth lottery.

That honest negativity aside, I admired the woman.
She served her country very well. Influenced in good ways over the
years, supported it when a calming steadfast figure was needed.

Grace, dignity, honor. What's normally expected of such folks.

Charles may not bring FUTURE disgrace to the family,
But the end of British Royalty is coming. The blood lines will
be there, the wealth also. The general respect is falling rapidly.
Gonna fall off the cliff soon. Unless, a new generation finds a Diana to
marry.

I think most of us have lost a mother, father or grandparent who we loved very much. This song speaks to the emotions felt by families over the loss of a loved one, as spoken by the one who is leaving.

Search the alternative media and you will see a different picture painted of her. Seems that the whole royal family is a bunch of sick pedophiles. watch the mainstream media interview with prince Andrew a few years ago when ask about his involvement with Epstein. After that they took him out of the public eye. They are all a bunch of sick people. If your not awake and can't see it by now it's doubtful you ever will.

We are aware of all that here. I am not a monarchist, just someone who has lost both parents and my grandparents. The song speaks about losing a loved one. That's all.
