There are some really big bulls out on the plains. Elk used to be a plains animals and hunters forced them into the high country. The hard part is getting access since it is all private property and most of it is leased up by outfitters for big deer. One of the biggest bulls I ever saw growing up in CO was along the Republican River near Wray.

Colorado runs those eastern plain hunts Sept 1 thru Jan 31 either sex. No point restrictions There are more and more elk every year, east of I -25. Problem being either paying big bucks trespass or getting permission to hunt private.

About the only Wildlife area that is half way huntable that I know of is the west end of John Martin SWA .The come and go off private land and go down in the thick river bottom during the day. South side of the river is private and they do pretty good there

The only reason I don’t Shoot big bulls like that is very simple, I just don’t see them…
