Good fly fishing in North Central AR. Guided or non

White river, best trout fishing in the world. Tons of outfitters. Try Gaston’s.

A drive through the Ozarks along the Buffalo River is pretty impressive in the Fall (NW Arkansas). Crystal Bridges art museum is free to the public, and one of the most impressive collections of Early American Art in the nation. Several official portraits of our founding fathers, including the one they used of George Washington for the Dollar Bill. You could go see the Bill Clinton museum (we call it the single-wide) in Little Rock (I crack myself up). USS Razorback in Little Rock is a fun tour, and we have a real live Razorback veteran right here at the Fire.

Buffalo is way too low to float right now. If you are looking for trout, you are probably looking at fishing the White below Bull Shoals dam or the Norfork (flows into the white ) below Norfork dam. Gaston’s and Roses trout dock both offer trips, as do a bunch of other guides. There are some fly shops in and around the area that probably have guide information to on. Mtn View is close and has the Ozark folk center (Google for hours and directions). You can also fish the lakes for big stripers with a guide.
Pea Ridge is a civil war battlefield. Fort Smith had Judge Parker’s courthouse. Both are worth the time, but are not very close to the trout rivers (Pea Ridge is closer).
