Right on. I just picked up a 19 calhoon and I’m itching to shoot it but having trouble locating reloading does for it. Hoping to find someone on here in the loop on some of the 19 stuff.

I did. He is out of the dies. Forster made them for him and they aren’t making anymore.

Best option I can think of is to get a 17 ackley hornet die and have the neck honed out.

Shot Jim's rifles/cartridges extensively years ago, and they worked very well. He knows how to make very functional and accurate rifles.
But the .19 would work better with plastic-tipped bullets--which increase BC and "expansion." Sierra made some for a while, but they're not consistently available. Which is why .17 and .20 calibers are more practical....

I think that C&H still makes swaggers … years ago I bought some .204 that had been sized down to .192 cal…. They worked and shot fairly well

I have a 19 Badger. My greatest fear is that Jim gets his harp & wings and the supply of 19 caliber bullets disappears. I would love to see a 20 Badger. Same 30 Carbine case, same weight bullet (32 gr VMAX) but in a .204 diameter.

Saubier was my go-to website 10 years ago. I haven't checked in on them recently. Todd Kindler (The Woodchuck Den, Small Caliber News) retired a few years back. He was loading "at the gritty edge" of safety, but was a big booster of the sub-caliber cartridges. Some of his articles may still be on line.
I may have dies for the 19 Calhoun. I'll have to go looking in the wishing well that is in my workshop.

I'm on saubier as well. Lots of good info. I posted there too about my search and no luck of yet. I would be very interested in a set of dies if you happen to find some!

Always wanted to do one of those 19 Calhouns... kinda the guy who got me started using Blue Dot.
Even bought a set of dies for them, but never ended up with buying a rifle... was worried about the limited supply of bullets etc.
even bought about 500 plus bullets from James's site., but in the end, I decided to play it safe and went with 20 caliber instead ( 20 Practical).
Bullets available at several places locally, and I have a sea of 223 brass to neck down...
I gifted the 19 Caliber dies to a campfire member long ago, along with the bullets... it was so long ago, I don't even remember who I gave it all to.
Loved the idea, but the 20 Practical idea and the 17 Fireball kinda both replaced what I was looking for out of a 19 Calhoun.

I have the CZ 527 version of the .19 Calhoon and really like it. It was an impulse buy but I’m glad I took the plunge. I bought my dies from Jim but was on a waiting list for a period of time.

I might have a set of dies. I have a variety of .19’s and haven’t played with them for awhile. I believe I have Mistem’s old rifle as well. Just to be clear you are looking for .19 Calhoun hornet dies? PM me a reminder and I will check next time I am out in my reloading shop. Not sure how which .19 I have multiples for but it would be the hornet or the badger. Hopefully it’s the one you are looking for.

My CZ 527 in 19 Badger was re-barreled by James.
