I've got to admit, I've not stayed informed on their offerings over the years, mainly due to pricing. My first rifle was/is a .22LR Woodchucker that my father bought me when I was about 5 and my kids learned to shoot with it also. After that, I moved on to rimfires from Ruger and Remington. Anschutz seems to have offered several action variants over the years, with some being more respected than others, and a lot of equipment geared toward competitive shooting. Is there a "Cliff's Notes" version of what's what with their bolt guns? I recently picked up this rifle from that belonged to a friend of mine that passed away a few years back. He was really into rimfires and I didn't even know he'd purchased this one. It's a 1416 .22LR with a threaded heavy sporter 18" tube and sporter-width forend. I must admit, it is one of the best feeling .22LR rifles I've had, partly due to the stock ergos and balance. With the Mask can and an old Nikon 2.5-10, it goes 7.8lbs and feels like a big game rifle. The trigger is what all .22LR sporters should be. My old Woodchucker, being wrung out by the kids about 10yrs back.
Now with even more aplomb

That's a nice rifle JPro, like you, I know very little about 22's, but that looks like a wicked fun package!
Great picture of your young lady tearing up some cans!

Looks good to me. Looks to be a 64 action. I have two with that action. One is a lr and the other is a magnum. Both shoot well enough for me. I certainly would be pleased with the set up you have. Hasbeen

Agree that looks like a 64 action. I have one of them. The 54 action rimfire is supposedly a step up in performance and price.

Great squirrel gun for sure! If your trying to shoot in a match you may want to look at a 1710 or 1712 with the “54” action

OP, you have a 1416AV "American Varmint", it is a model 64 action. They are no longer available, the last one left ANA earlier this week. I just got in to Anschutz a few months ago, my first one being the 1416AV. Mine came with the 5098 two stage "light" trigger, I didn't care for how light it was, and tried changing springs, but could only get it to 8oz when breaking the second stage...so I put a 5103 two stage trigger in, with a J&P extra heavy spring, now it's a perfect 2# trigger. Also, if you want DIP makes a nice Trigger Guard for them, I just got one for mine. I'm still waiting on my DA Mask to get paroled...been in jail since Feb. https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1416av_dip-jpg.7966665/The next step up, along the lines of what you have now is a Anschutz 1712AV, which also has an 18" threaded barrel, but it is the Model 54 action. https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1712av-jpg.7966646/I don't know why image tags don't work for my pictures...so links to them is the best I can do.

Its hard to find one at a lower price but they can be had. If you get one don't sell it because you'll likely regret it.

I believe all current 14XX's are all the cheaper 64 actioned rifles, the old 1422 was a 54 action and similar to the current 1710 rifle. If you want a current 54 actioned rifle, it will be a 17XX.

Pic is worth 1000 words but I’d assume a 64 action.
