I had an Encore years ago in 7-08 that I had a bunch of trouble with. No matter what I did I could not get it to shoot my reloads I traded it in and it must have been a jinxed rifle because someone stole it off the dealer's used rack. I currently have another Encore that is my most versatile gun. I have the rifle in 7-08, or I can convert it to a pistol in .243, or a .45 cal muzzleloader. The only thing I need now is a 20 ga and .45-70 barrel and I can go anywhere!! [align:left]

With Smith and Wesson closing down production of all T/C products several years back the prices of T/C Barrels and frames certainly have increased in price. T/C barrels averaged $250.00 in the classifieds, now are $300.00 or more, the frame prices have increased as well especially on the Contender.
No doubt the prices on T/C prices will continue to rise in the future.

I still have my stainless action with synthetic stock and two barrels- .45-70 and 7mm-08. The 7mm wears a Leopold scope but the .45-70 is open sites. Killed my only bull elk years ago with a previous Encore 7mm-08 that I had sold. Always wanted to get a custom barrel in .357 mag but found a Ruger 77/.357 so that itch got scratched to my satisfaction.

[align:left] I had an on going fight with my 7mm-08 Encore barrel similar to this until I figured out it wanted to be fouled before it would group. (Stainless, 24"). I'd put together some loads to try, come up with something useable (always toward the end of the testing), go home, clean the bore and load up the same combination that did well, only to have it group about 3" or so. I finally figured it out, and now it hardly ever gets cleaned. It takes a good 10 or so shots before it settles back down.
Think. It's not illegal, yet.

I have two barrels from match grade machine. A 7mm 08 and a 45-70, both barrels are extremely accurate. I am very happy with them.

My old TC 25-06 has been a good accurate barrel for a long time now. It's about 30-35 years old now.

I have a Match Grade Machine barrel in 357 Mag that is new and unfired if you're still thinking of getting one. This one will be less expensive and can be shipped fast so you don't have to wait the 8-12 weeks.

Why did you not use the 357 barrel? Are there sights on the barrel or drilled for scope mounting. How much do you want for it?

I bought it to have Mike Bellm rechamber to 357 Max but I ended up doing the same thing with my CVA Apex. The barrel has a rail mount on it so it's ready for work. Price will be $475 shipped. PM me for photos.
