Well my oldest son, youngest son,my bother and his oldest headed to the Frank Church for OTC tags and a crack at some elk about a week ago. Get to where my brother killed his bull a few years ago and find that it was burned out, don't know what their plan B was but I received some pictures and text messages last Sunday, they had made a trip to town to take care of the bull my oldest shot a day before. They spotted him and 11 cows at 800 yds. My son and my nephew stalked to within 420 yds, the deal was my nephew would get the shot if they could close the distance to 300,420 was as close as they could get so my son took the shot, it was a chip shot for him being a SF sniper. Only wish I could have been with him, he wanted me to go along. Hopefully next year we will get together and do a hunt. I know hunting the Church is tough. I am a mighty proud dad! Now if I could figure out how to post a picture, maybe someone could help me on that, computer savvy I am not.

Now if I could figure out how to post a picture, maybe someone could help me on that, computer savvy I am not. Awesome! But we need pictures! I agree that pics would be great for this thread. Maybe you could help the poor guy out. I will note that there is a sticky at the top giving instruction how to host/post a picture on this site. So easy, even a caveman can figure it out.

That is some cool news! Always wanted to hunt that and float the Middle Fork as well! So much terrain, so little time!

Thanks for the offers to help, one of the members here is going to post some pictures for me, shout-out to proud dad. Talked to my boys last night as they were heading out, they had plenty of story's to share, had an amazing time, had an 8 mile pack out with his elk to their spike camp. Lots of blisters, sore muscles but they said it was worth every bit of it. On the second to last day my oldest and my nephew where hunting together and my nephew got a beautiful cinnamon black bear.

Wow! Awesome pictures! I'd love to know where they were in the FC! Some of my favorite elk hunting area! Steep, rugged country.

I hunted FC one year with my brother and a few other guys. 8 guys, 16 head of horses and mules. 9,000 feet ain't no fun coming out of Barrow, at 11 feet. Only two elk down, but I screwed up... shoulda got at least one- had two chances, 2 different bulls Good time! Well, maybe excepting that 30 minute "sound" stalk I put on someone's tethered horse. Snuck right up on him, I did!

Central Idaho & the Selway is some of the most rugged & tough to hunt jungle in the lower 48. Not all that high, just damned tough country.
The boys done good; Congrats to them.
