Question?
I have one with the box that I believe came out of the custom shop with the KS (Kevlar Stock). Has all the correct markings (or lack of markings). However it doesn’t have the Custom Shom stamped on top of the barrel.
There is one for sale on gunbroker that’s does have that stamp. So my question….
Some do some don’t? Year dependent? Just curious

Most of the earlier ones don't have anything stamped on the top of the barrel. Mine doesn't and its from 1992. I think later on toward the end of the KS run they did put one on top but most looked like this with nothing else on the barrel not even the Remington name on the barrel.

That 30/06 is a very late ks.

The custom shop stamp on the top of the barrel began somewhere in the mid to late 2000s from what I have been able to tell.

Some do, some don’t. I’ve bought several used ones and I think two have it and the others don’t. Some have the date codes on the left side of the barrel ahead of the receiver, some don’t. On some the cartridge stamp is pretty tiny while on others they’re larger. Note the size of the cartridge stamp on the rifle pictured above.

The one thing they ALL have in common is they shoot really well. All of mine have wood stocks BTW.

What’s interesting to me is the barrel date code corresponded to 2011 - a couple years after they were last cataloged!

Right RF has to be 2011 and couldn't be 1985 i believe (didn't think these were made back then but not sure)
Mine is EL date code = October of 1991 correct? Also "C" prefix on the action. Is that anything significant compared to other action prefixes?

That's my favorite.

“C” is just part of the identification in the serial number. The B and C’s are slick running actions for the most part.

The A, B, and C prefixes are all the “good” prefixes. The anti bind slot officially started with the A prefix around 1975 (but I have seen a late non prefix with the slot).

I’ve had several gunsmiths say the A prefix actions were the straightest, the lugs had the most contact with the action raceways, and the handles were clocked perfectly.

Never seen a KS in a stock like that.

The ks production spanned late B to G prefixes, so I doubt you will find an A prefix KS.

Supposedly the late production RR actions were also very straight.

Yup, Darren was the best IMHO - he still lurks about on occasion but doesn't post much these days.
