I coulda sworn there was a previous thread about this a while back, but I was scrolling back through the board and didn't see it, and the search feature and my phone do not get along very well.
Anyway, like the title says, I know you guys must have a ballpark on how many of these 99s in 375 Win pop up for sale and general values. I did a little GoogleFu earlier and didn't see any current/live listings for one.
Now that IL has legalized straight walls for deer, I'm sort of tempted to try to track one down, if it's not generally a fool's errand or going to cost me a mortgage on the house and the fillings out of my teeth.
Thanks.

The 99-375 (Brushgun) pops up regularly for sale, sometimes a 99A in 375. They weren't sold long, but quite a number must have sold. The 99-358 Brushgun sales seemed to have almost stopped, there's very few 358's in my data after the375's came out even though both were catalogued.
Not "common", but probably not "rare".

Thank you. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.
I've seen a few 358s, just no 375s. I wasn't really looking for them before. Now that I am, I just haven't seen any.
I've got a couple rifles to fit the bill, but it'd be nice to have a 99 for it too. 38-55 and 375 are the only two factory chamberings I could use.

You might want to watch availability of ammo and reloading components. I have not checked in a while but they were a hard find.
Starline was making brass.

I've got some 375 brass and dies. I was gonna buy a 94 Win in 375 way back when, but then the seller flaked out so it never happened on me. That guy burned me twice, actually, once on a fairly nice Trapdoor Springfield, too. He'd be all hot to trot to sell stuff, then once you showed up with the money he'd himhaw and nothing would end up happening.
He ended up wrapping himself around a telephone pole at 70mph with no seatbelt a few years back, so I guess it was karma.

They pop up now and again, but you are not going to like the price.

If they're too salty for my taste or I can't find one I may just end up getting a repro 1894 or 1885 in 38-55 instead.
I just liked the idea of using a 99. My 1899A SR is just about the perfect walking rifle for me as far as balance and shouldering/pointability go. Can't deer hunt with it here, but it's a great walking coyote rifle. Popped a couple with it out on the farm I deer hunt over the past few years I've had it. See a lot more coyotes out there than deer most years.

I passed on a 375 Marlin at a gun show about 15 years back because I was a bit tight on cash... still kick myself for that one, especially now.

I kick myself for not buying a NIB 99-375 that a fellow would drag to the local gunshow every few months in the '90s. I already had the .358 so didn't think I needed it. His asking price was $375.

I've got two 99's in 375. One shooter and one safe queen with a RD serial #. I've also got a Big Bore 94 I don't use if you want one.

I wish you had also Norm, I know of a 243 saddle gun that a 375 barrel would be a nice fit for
Roy you want to sell that barrel please let me know there is no issues in posting a barrel to me here down under

You really have to buy them when you see them if you want one. At one time they seemed to fall out of the sky and I owned 3 of them. I'm down to 1 and I regret selling them.
Prices are only going one way and that's up. It is especially exasperated by the straight wall case in former shotgun zones laws that have opened up in a lot of states.

Yeah, straight walls (and a few short bottlenecks) for deer just got passed here back in May.

I'd go with an 1899 38-55, probably get one for a better price than a 375. I've been trying to push my collection in the direction of Pre WWI, but I keep finding deals on newer rifles.
I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.
