I recently snagged a 5lb keg of RL22 for a decent price, still deciding on what to try it in. My original plan was using it in .25-06 and .257 Roberts, but looks like its decent in .280 and .243 Win as well. I've honestly never used any before, anyone familiar with the powder?

25-06 and 100 grain TSX kicked butt in my buddie’s rifle with RL 22.

Wish I could find RL 22 in Alabama. Would gladly trade for some

My Tikka T3X in 7mm RM uses R22 for loads with both the 160 Accubond and 175 Partition. I use Nosler data and am just a hair under max book loads. Just just over .5” with either load.

I use it in 270 Weatherby, have seen any in a while

I've had very good results in 7mag, 300win mag, 243, 25-06.

I had some of the bad batch of it years ago....returned it and had it replaced with RL 19.
I converted to RL 23 afterwards...

was never any problems until that recall... 19 and 23 worked just as well, so I have not returned to using it.

I use to use it in my 280 and it performed really well but I ran across a shop several years ago that was getting out of selling reloading supplies. They had many, many pounds of IMR 7828 for half price. I bought all they had. I quit using RL-22 after I found this. 58.5 grs of IMR 7828 paired with a 154gr SST is outstanding in my 280.

Rl22 and a 100gr nbt in 25-06 is getting me 3450-3475 fps. Under half moa.

I have used RL22 in all of those, but the 257, a good buddy used it with the 257 Roberts and 115 BT's though. I used to used RL22 for everything, 7 Rem, 7 WSM, 25-06, 270 WSM, 280, 270, 243, 300 Win, 338, etc. I liked it alot honestly. I kinda got freaked out with the temp sensitivity issues others have mentioned, but I never had the POI shifts, but I wasn't hunting in extremes outside of when I developed the loads. I typically did my load work back then in the 50-60 degree Spring days and hunted down to about 20-30 mostly.

RL22 has always been very accurate for me, easy to use and attained excellent speeds. Scoring a 5lb jug wouldn't break my heart a bit. I switched over to RL23 when it became available, but so far it hasn't worked any different than 22, other than it is supposed to be less temp sensitive.

My only experience with RL 22 was in an old 270win loaded with the 130gr Etip and the 150gr Sierra SP. That particular 270 shot both bullets accurately but the 150gr Sierra was a better load.

I worked more than a few loads with RE-22 and got best accuracy in some rifles. Then I came across RE-26 and bought enough for a few years. I’m down to one or two pounds of RE-22. My most accurate loads in my 300 Weatherby and my 300 Win Mag now are with RE-26.

Been shooting 105's outta a 243 with it for a while.

Did run into an issue with some warm loads that were shot after sitting in the truck all day.

Lots of luck in 300 win mag and 25-06. I could sure use some. Been out for a while now.

I have used a lot of RL22 in my 30/06. Super accurate in my rifle with good velocity. I like it.

I know H4831 is more temp stable, but I have found RL 22 to be more accurate in my rifles. My primary use for it is 95-100gr. .243 and 140-150gr. .270. It's a champ in both of them.

My results are like aboltfan's. I struggled to find RL22 years ago and switched to H4831 for 243, 25-06, 270 and 300WM. With availability over the past several years I's shoot whichever I could find.

It is one of my go to powders for my 7mm Mag.

Used to use RL-22 in the .300 Win Mag with 180s, obtaining high velocity and excellent groups.
Switched to N560 because it made better groups.
N560 gave the same velocity per charge weight as RL-22 with the particular components I was using.

I just loaded some 300 Win mags with 22. Hope to shoot them before long

I've had good success with it in 6.5x55 with the 140 Partition and 46.0-46.5 grain charge weights. I think I settled on 46.0. Shoots very well in two different No. 1 rifles.

I used it successfully for years in 338 Win Mag, 225g bullets. Only problem was that all load development was done in California during moderate or warm weather. Chronographed loads in Montana in winter in below freezing temperatures and the loss of velocity was 3-400 fps. I switched to more temp tolerant propellants though I had never had issues on hunts.

Use rl-22 in the 25-06 with 100 gr. Bullets and 110 grain accubonds.

Bug hole groups and high speed. 3320 fps avg with 100 gr. With 58 grains of the stuff.

Same size groups and 3250 fps 110 gr. accubonds with 56 grains of the stuff.

They are warm loads, proceed with caution. The m700 with a 22 inch bbl works well with them.

The accubonds leave bigger exit holes. The 100 gr partition load quickly anchored a big, well worn ivory cow elk for the wife a few seasons back.

I bought some because I bought a rifle in .243 Win. The previous owner worked up a great load with RL-22 and NBT in 95gr.
