Federal and IMI are what I have experience with. Both are good, if pricey.

What is the best ammo at the best price?

Anyone tried ammo from ZSR?

I haven’t found anything that beat IMI, it’s loaded to spec, sealed at both ends and tends to be more accurate than LC but it’s around .55-.60 per round right now. It’s good ammo to stash.

For blasting ammo I think I’d just get whatever’s the cheapest non steel I could find and shoot it.

I bought a case of ZSR right as Covid started to make news and the panic buying. I sold it later without shooting any of it. It looked good. Sealed primers and such but no experience shooting any of it.

It was made in Bosnia contract military ammo if I remember right.

Bought some Federal LC M193 NATO...

... and then filled the locker w/ Wolf Gold .223 FMJ at ~ $6/20 box by the case, delivered.

Rebranded Taiwan Military Arsenal ammo.

Also, I heard that the wolf gold brass cases had a coating that would stick in the chamber.

This was actually with domestically (US Midwest) produced ammo using wolf gold new brass. A buddy bought 300 rounds and was ripping rims with his extractor if he left an unfired round in a hot chamber.

The secondary market here is selling PMC 55gr for $.46/round in bulk, $.50/round in 20round boxes.

Wolf Gold is on backorder all over the place.

I've shot a few cases of Wolf brass and I never had any problems with it. I don't do anything to it but give it a VLD chamfer with a Giraud trimmer. It's some of the best brass out there for 5.56.
I'd bet $$ to donuts the problem was with the loader.

Don’t know. I stocked up back when it was affordable. It was a good priced, accurate alternative when I was stocking up. Ah the Trump years.
