That is the way it is in Missouri a CCW permit you can actually carry more places than what most are calling constitutional carry.
Myself my thoughts are a bit mixed on this subject. CCW you at least get some training though it may be minimal improve your at least somewhat capable.

To me a good solution would be that it is legal to carry but if asked by law enforcement for a card specifying you had so much training blah blah or whatever you need to produce that or otherwise you are not legally caring. Compare/contrast with drivers licenses. How many people can be killed/injured by a vehicle. How strenuous is the requirement for a DL?

you ask reasonable questions at it and I agree with you you probably grew up similar to me live out in the sticks and been around guns your whole life. But keep in mind that people in the big cities that have no knowledge of a weapon at all. Those people turn 18 or 21 whatever the age is nowadays for a handgun come walk in the store purchase it stick it in their pocket and walk down the street and have zero clue. Several here whined about it also. I quit teaching 6 or 7 years before we got Constitution Carry here. I was glad it finally passed here. It was long overdue in TX.
Like I mentioned before, the only reason I keep my LTC is for traveling to other states for hunting and fishing.
The main reason I got mine in the 1st place, was for bow hunting in states that didn’t allow carrying a handgun while hunting in Archery only season.

My Dr took my class about 20 years ago. As did all the other Dr’s in his practice. When I still worked in the Wholesale Firearm's Industry, he’d sometimes call me and have me bring him a couple of cases of ammo, when I was coming in for a checkup.

Although I agree with Jackson Handy that a person shouldn’t have to have a permit to exercise a right, I’m also glad I took a concealed carry course. The instructor was very informative and I learned quite a bit on what to say and do if you do ever have to pull the trigger. How to recognize threats and human behavior. I liked it enough that I recommend it to several friends to take even if they were not interested in getting their CCW permit.
The class had only had about 10-15% content on firearm handling and then we were given several options for drills to do at home.

The advantage we have in the US is the ability to vote with our feet. Don't like the law where you are, you can go to a place that it is different, up to and including Vermont that has no restrictions.
Also, if you don't like what the pols have done at the behest of the Chamber of Commerce where you are, you can do one of two things, work hard to change it, or accept it.
To violate a carry restriction makes us no better than a thief or a murderer. How do you parse obeying one law and not another?

It is. Committing a crime is a crime (some are worse than others, granted) but if you teach your kids to pick and choose which laws to obey instead of obeying them all you condone law breaking. Where do you stop.
Is it not better to work to improve the legislation than to just tell them to break the law?
Most States say their General Assembly sets the laws, if you refuse to follow them regarding carry, which is normally a high caliber misdemeanor, or even a felony in some places, does that make us better than other criminals?
