I bought 300 of them also. I'm waiting on a 30-06 to be rebored into a 338-06 and I'm hoping it'll come back soon from JES. When I get it back I plan on loading up some of the 185s over some A2520 as a starting place.

I bought 800 but I haven’t had a chance to load any or shoot anything else for that matter. Building a new log home and most everything is still in storage including all of my reloading equipment.
But I have a 338 federal and a 338-06 to try them in.

I bought 300 as well. I am pretty sure they are Federal Fusion bullets. Anyone know for sure?

From what I can find, they were originally intended for the 338 Fed Federal Fusion MSR line of ammo that has been discontinued. Don't quote me on that but I'm assuming the same as you.

There's no load data for them but it shouldn't be hard to extrapolate data from the 180 accubond / 185 GMX.

I am planning to use them in my 338Fed. With my luck, they will shoot great and be forever discontinued just like the Hornady 200gr SP.

I plan on hunting deer size game with them. I loaded them in my 338 Win Mag but loaded them to 338 federal velocity, I hope to limit meat damage at that speed. Loaded 60.5 grs of Reloader 15 with a COAL of 3.30. All 3 shot groups were less than 3/4 of an inch at 100 yards.

I too bought some. I plan on using them in my 338-06 AI. I couldn’t pass them up. I will load up and try them out tomorrow. I’m kind of excited. Those seem to be the right weight for what I like to do. I have 60 casings already fire formed and 60 more, A Square to form.

Yes bought some 185 fusions. Put together a load that hits same POI at 100 yds as my 225 Accubond elk load in a 338 RCM.

Velocity is not maxed out @ 2784 fps. Used 54.5 gr of IMR 8208 as I have a ton of it and it is temp insensitive. I always felt it was a shame to have that rifle sitting till the next cow elk hunt, which in Az is every 4 or so years.

So I cleaned and prepped my nearly new .338 WM to Dyna Bore Coat the bore, then loaded up some of these bullets with IMR 4198 (from 50-54 gr) to cure the DBC and maybe find a 338 Fed-type deer load in the process....this happened at 53.0 grains, bullet seated to canelure; WLRM primer, once fired brass neck sized the Campfire Lee collet way. I suspect I'm around 2600-2700 fps.

Next is to load 10 more for repeat grouping and Magneto speed measurements. Maybe I don't really need to re-barrel that Savage 7-08 to 338 Fed.

If anyone who bought some off this great deal but do not need them, I will buy them all. My new 338 Fed likes them. I have Nosler 200gr Accubonds and Hornady 200gr SPs (now discontinued) for trade. I can buy them outright as well.

I have around 135 ish of the Federal Fusion 185gr Midway specials. I'll trade them bullet for bullet for your Hornady 200gr SP. I'll shoot you a PM.

Question for the users of this bullets, what would you say the G1 BC is. I am hearing numbers from .378 to .477 - looking for something a bit more definitive - lol. Thanks in advance, I'm a fairly new number here....

I shot a 2 1/2 year old buck yesterday with one of these Midway seconds 185gr .338s from my 338Fed. The shot was only 50 yards and mostly broadside. I had a nice entry wound, and an exit wound slightly larger than a nickel. I purposely did not hit any front shoulder to see its reaction. Upon gutting it, both lungs were toast and a corner of the heart was damaged too. It dropped on the spot like virtually all deer I have shot with the 338Fed.

I have not put them across a chrony yet but will in the spring. I just did not have enough time. According to the reloading data, it should be 2600+. I am not pushing them too hard but they are very accurate.

I am headed up your way for bear then deer. It looks like a cold one this year!

Sure does. I'll be out walking around this Saturday for bear, but no one else can make it. Where you headed to?
