Swung in to a little German store down south bend yesterday on the way to the beach. Picked a jar up, damn good stuff. According to Google it’s a mountain cranberry. Similar but not like our cranberries. Good stuff👊🏻

Just happened to see some for sale on Saturday at a small store near the house. Now I'll have to go back and buy some. I'd never heard of it before.

Now experience.
My bride has a bag of lingonberries in the freezer. Not sure where they came from but they are tart.

I use it all the time. Goes good with my version of potato pancakes as a topping, and of course with Swedish Meatballs.

It's often served as a little side dish but only a spoonful of it with game meat. My maternal grandfather who was born and then lived in Silesia until 1945 when forced to leave the country and migrated to West Germany used to tell about pedlars who were specialised in selling fruits especially lingonberries from a handbarrow always shouting "Preiselbeerkauf" means lingonberries for sale. When putting a jar with lingonberries on the table at lunchtime he suddenly used to reminisce by suddenly shouting out loudly "Preiselbeerkauf". Even being used to this habbit we always startled up.

I have never had the pleasure, but would love to try some.
That makes me think of chokecherry. Other from a store, (ABQ and Red Lake Nation) the last I was lucky enough to eat, was some made by my ex and her Mother picked in Valmora. Served on fresh baked bread with thickened cream . . . It was GREAT eating!
Maybe Mark Shubert or someone else can tell us how one gets cream to thicken without souring, MIL could/did do it!
