The Sightron S1 Riflescopes Have Arrived

The new S1 line was launched earlier this year at the same time SIGHTRON engineers developed a new process to improve light transmission without increasing costs. This caused a short delay in manufacturing which in turn caused a delay in shipping and receiving of the product.

“Since its formal launch at Shot Show the S1 has undergone an important internal upgrade,” said Jeff Penn, National Sales Manager, SIGHTRON. “We apologize to our customers and dealers for the delay, but we felt it was important to give our customers the best possible viewing experience. We are fully stocked and shipping now.”

Built on the legacy of the original SI series, first introduced in 2002, the new S1 series is an extension of all of our experience earned over the last 20 years and applying it for the next generation of hunters and target sport enthusiasts.

SIGHTRON’s designers and engineers focused on reducing weight, improving optical design, light transmission, eye relief, and more generous sight pictures. They have accomplished all of this without resorting to exotic materials and manufacturing processes that inevitably increase prices. Staying true to industry standard zoom ranges, the team used modern optical technologies, material improvements, and looked for those “little tweaks” that make a difference. The result is a seamless transition from your current riflescope while benefiting from the latest in optical technology.

Each S1 riflescope uses a one-inch lightweight aircraft aluminum tube that is O-ring sealed, air purged, then filled with nitrogen gas for waterproof and fogproof performance that will handle anything mother nature throws its way. S1 riflescopes have SIGHTRON’s Lifetime Performance Guarantee that is backed by a team of skilled technicians. If you ever have an issue, they will get your scope working as it should or they will replace it, no charge.

Features:
Exclusive Optical Design: Using the right materials for the right applications, Sightron engineers build optical formulas around the best optical glass to reduce chromatic aberrations, improve color accuracy, while delivering excellent light transmission and best-in-class resolution and sharpness.

Exclusive MC-333 Multi-Coating: Sightron’s exclusive MC-333 multi-coated glass lenses provide clear and sharp viewing at any zoom range, while reducing flare, increasing contrast and light transmission providing additional time in the field.

Second Focal Plane Reticle: The reticle size remains constant at any zoom range.

Reticle Material: Wire reticle.

Shockproof: 1,000G Shock rating supports even the highest calibers.

Waterproof: Rated at IPX7 waterproof standards.

Fogproof: Nitrogen gas charged for a lifetime of fog free use.

Tube Construction: Milled from a single piece of lightweight, aircraft grade aluminum.

What’s the distance like between the thicker parts of the reticle on the duplex? Is it like Leupold’s wide duplex,or more compact like a standard duplex?

I wonder how the new s1 compares to the older s2? They sure went up in price compared to the older s1 but if the new s1 is close to s2 it's a bargain

My inside source at Sightron walked me through the G2 upgrades....pretty impressive. Other than the 'S1' designation, these are a complete redesign. They are made in Sightron's facility in the Phillipines.

As soon as the A.O. version 4-12 with the HHR reticle is available, I'm going to wring one out.

Al,

Do you (or anyone) know if they are using the same erector assembly/tracking system?

The “exact trac” or whatever they called it was what I always appreciated most about the Sightron scopes. Hopefully they held onto that part.

Dear Sightron, bring back the hunting oriented SIIIs you stopped making and/or the most popular offerings in the SII Blue Sky line. The SIIB 3-9x42 is the best 3-9 i have ever owned by far.

It's a new erector system compared to the previous S1's.

I think you're referring to the Big Sky SII's. The Blue Sky series is one of Sightron's binocular series. I have a fair number of the Big Sky scopes.... smile

What makes these scopes unique? Or worthy of a new release? Do they track properly and hold zero after impacts?

The fact that any company attempts to sell any optic without proof of these qualities is beyond me. Why aren’t these very basic and fundamental qualities tested and marketed? Especially when a new model is released. Everything else is secondary! I hope these scopes are fantastic, but I’d like to see more testing an stuff that matters.

A little background details should clarify some questions.

Sightron is owned by Kenko. Kenko is THE main optics mfg in the Philippines. When you see "Made in Philippines" on any brand scope chances are it was made by Kenko. As the owner of Sightron you can feel pretty warm and fuzzy knowing that Kenko makes sure that scopes with the Sightron name on them get amazing quality control as well as being able to be priced more competitively. Sightron has a strong history of producing quality scopes.
