Loading for first time 300 win mag. I'm using a 175 LRX Barnes and CCI LMR primer and Reloder 22 powder coal 3.360. I started at 68.0 grains and worked up in .5 grains to 71.0. The book max is 72.7, which is a compressed load. I understand Norma brass is thicker so I stopped prior to reaching the max load. How much do you generally load down for thicker brass? Thanks

It is a bit heavier, but I'd just stick with the chrono if you have one. Look for 3050-3100 with RL22 and I'd guess you'll be fine with the 175 LRX.

I like the LRX bullets in my 6mm PRC, I am hunting whitetail with mine. What are planning on hunting with your RUM?

Got the win mag version. Elk, moose, and bear, occasional unlucky mule deer or varmint. Mainly elk though.

It’s not my experience that Norma commercial brass is significantly heavier than Win, Remington, Federal or Nosler. Used it quite extensively in 223, 22.250, 220 Swift, 243 and 25.06. Never had a problem switching max loads between any of the commercial brands. Did see about a 5-7 grain weight difference between Norma commercial and Norma military, but when it came down to case capacity there was only a .5 grain difference between the 2.

^^What everyone else said. I'd work up your load and see what the rifle tells you. My most recent experience was that Norma brass was noticeably *lighter* than certain other popular brands, but that is going to vary caliber to caliber. Also, virgin brass will generally hold a little less powder than once fired, so if you are running into compression issues now, you might not run into compression issues once the brass has been used once. (presuming you're using virgin brass).

Norma brass is definitely my favorite. It's awesome. It has the most capacity of any 35 Whelen brass I've measured including Remington, Hornady and I've forgotten what else. Easily holds 2 to 3 grains more powder than Remington. Lasts much longer. I'm glad Norma makes brass in this Chambering. I get it every time I can.

Same here. I am closely guarding the 100pcs of Norma 30-06 brass I have.

My experience with Norma 300 Win Mag brass is that it is typically lighter than other brass and I find I have to up the charge about 1-1.5 gr to get the same velocity as the same load in WW or Hornady brass

As always though, work up and watch for pressure signs.
