For sale Mauser model 98 8mm Mauser project (barrel and receiver only). Comes with Meopta 3X scope (3 post reticle), barrel is 23"-barrel, barrel is not marked 8mm Mauser, but owner of rifle says that all that was ever shot out of it. It come with 28 rounds of 8mm Mauser (9 Winchester and 19 Remington). Metal has surface rust, but no bad pitting. Bore has is has come light corrosion (no bad pitting) but rifling looks good (bore is not badly pitted). Has QD scope mount that works very nice. Missing front sight. I don't know much identifying make of action, but from my limited web search, I think it's a Steyer action. See pic of bottom metal, that only marking that I could easily find. It looks like all it needs is a stock and would be ready to shoot. Selling For $400 shipped to FFL.

The byf code and WaA135 indicate Mauser Oberndorf, not Steyr. But that's just for the guard. It could easily have been swapped on, unless of course the serial #s match. Doesn't look like you have much in the way of serial numbers though.

Kind of a cool setup

Thanks for the correction AKwolverine, I was definitely not sure make of receiver. Their isn't a serial # on the receiver, but the bolt has 1089# on it. Their is also a # 4 on the top front of the receiver. I think it might have been a #44 on the front of the receiver (# is polished off).

Gartenmeister gets the thanks; I was just suggesting a possible stock for someone to make a package. Stock appears to be sold now anyway.
Back up for you.

Bottom metal is military. Are there any other markings available?
