I'm not too surprised. The last 284 I remember seeing for sale was $1500 or 1600 and that's been a year or two ago.

There are 4 on guns international, two high dollar rifles, one is 6000.00. And one for 8000.00. One for 1700 and one for 1900.00

I bought mine a couple of years ago, don’t remember what I paid. The .284 works real good on pigs and deer.

Unless you hand load it hot to reach it's case capacity potential, which you really can't do in a 99, the difference in performance between a 150 grain ball fired out of a 284 or a 7mm-08 or a 308 Win, doesn't add up to the value of a wooden nickel.

The 284 is very sexy, I get it, but once you get past the lipstick, short dress, long legs and high heels, it won't do anything in a 99 to game that a 308 Win wouldn't do for half the money.

How is that for a lit match on 5 gallon of gasoline? That should start a fire.

I've owned several 284s and I liked them. They just didn't stick to me though. Now I own 308s.
