I don’t remember where it was, but I do remember two bulls that were locked and were frozen in a river.

Amazing power. 1500 pound animals with two dozen daggers on their heads.

Powerline Pass is an excellent place to observe these moose in the rut, it should be really heated up by now.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Years ago, at the head of Cannonball Creek (Resurrection Creek drainage out of Hope), I found two big caribou heads locked together from the previous rut. I was hunting meat so left 'em lay.
Damn, I can be stupid..... it was a 12 mile back-pack out. Only 2 days travel to continue hunting. Wish I'd gotten them. They were gone by the next year.

I work for Togiak Refuge in SW Alaska. We have twice found two bulls dead, locked together. One was a set that both were around 60. The other set was a 69 and a 72, and one of the two had like a second whole palm growing on one side. I have photos on my work PC but am at home at the moment. That must have been something to see - 2 bulls like that fighting to the death.

2010 my wife shot a shiras with a broken brow tine. a friend that runs a taxidermy shop shot a bull with a brow tine stuck in his right eye. 8 full inches inside his eye socket. they didn't match up. take a tine of moose antler and try to break it. that old moose had to have the mutha of all headaches.

I have a set of moose antlers in my garage with a second set of tines growing out of the base of the palms on the outside, both sides. I'll have to take a pic and post it (again). Real gut-hooks!

Wonder if F&G will auction off the locked racks or just have another nifty wall hanger for someone's office?

Great waste of moose flesh!

Boy would I love to have the “any moose in anchorage” tag 😊
