I just don't like going into places where there are a bunch of people.

And Walmart is really popular so I don't go inside.

If I do have to go (which is once every 30 years )

I go in thru the back automotive tire and lube door.

Let’s me avoid the partially dismembered greeter with the Cold War Vet cap and the jack o lantern covid mask.

Puts me right into the middle of the $26 Mobil One 5qt jugs, the nightcrawlers, and shotgun shells

Back in the day, pre wife and kids, I would go salmon fishing out in the ocean. Bout an hour and a half drive to launch the boat. I'd wake up at 3 AM and start packing. 9 outa 10 times I'd have forgot something. What's open at 3 AM? Walmart. Holy hell, the teeth grinding zombies would be milling around pretending to actually be shopping. Always felt like a scene from the walking dead.
One time, one of them followed me out asking for money. When told to F off, he gets all angry. Only thing in the back of my pickup is a 4' cheapo aluminum level. I wrapped that thing around his dome. The level did a U turn around his greasy head.
He just wonders off a different direction after that.
Fooking Walmart.... ..

Nice find.

I would say I'm snooty cause the walmart gets delivered but that's all Mrs. Geno.

I only go the walmarks nowadays when nothing else is open and I do go to the stores I want something from (very rarely have anything shipped or delivered).

The thrift store is the place for big ticket items but you have to be real patient or make friends with the workers there to let you know when a snooty old professional dies and his kids didn't want any of their stuff. Took about a year to furnish the bachelor pad a few blocks from work when the first wife left (a 6 place formal dining set I got from there was very nice and made by sears if that tells you how old it was).

Back when the southside of Birmingham was still cool and not invaded by all the meth heads. My office was 2 blocks from 5 points and the apartment (1/2 of a massive old three story house) was about 6.

I walked everywhere. Life as it should be. Everything's too spread out now and my parts are too high mileage for all that walking although I am improving, albeit slowly.

And all those market places also.

Walmart is awesome!!!
The best thing about Clarksville and Oak Grove is all the pawn shops. A guy can spend days just hitting all of them in the Ft. Campbell area.

Okay now, I did see one in Miles City. That was probably 5 years ago.

I asked wife to drive last week when we went through the endless sprawl and traffic between Columbia Falls and Kalispell. I get weird being surrounded by people in cars.

Much rather prefer 85mph and wide open highway!

(I readily admit to leading a very sheltered life, borderline rural hermit)

I'm like you Sam. Once we get to the traffic part of a trip, she takes over driving.

Wish I'd had her along on my drive to SoCal a few weeks back. Had to deal with them all by my lonesome.
