Yeah, but replicas are relatively speaking, cheaper than ever. They could have bought a Italian replica l873 rifle and replica SSA for $2,500, tops.

Yes. I liked it a lot, despite the modern Winchester 94 he used in it, and the brass framed Colt SAA. Their firearms consultant should have been fired.
I too look for those things subconsciously expecting to find them. If Hollywood ever creates a true-to-time-period movie, I swear I will miss the whole plot because I will, increasingly, search for the mistakes I just know are there.

True Joebob. But this is generally not how a production company working on a lower budget works. The big guys will spend lots of money on props and such. Then they usually have a big auction after the rap and try to sell stuff. Which is usually successful. Like I said the BIG guys do this.

But it is cheaper for the Smaller fish to rent a gun for maybe $150 a day for two or three days of filming than it is to buy a $1000 rifle. That’s just the way they work. Bean counters.

Ditto.
EE was looking forward to it coming out about a month before it did, but he never got a chance to watch it. He and I talked about it extensively before it aired.
