How are they doing Richard? I haven’t started yet, probably next week. From what I’ve heard earlier numbers aren’t the best.

The dry weather pretty much got the beans around here, especially the double crop ones. They are many empty pods, and beans the size of BB's. Worst corn and bean crop here in many years.

One of my neighbors said that his dryland bean yields were poor, just 25 to 40 bushels per acre. In 2021 his beans averaged between 69 and 74 bushels per acre on the same land.

2 of our farms had the corn crop destroyed by hail and wind on 06/14/22 and except for the strips left for the insurance damage assessment most people replanted a short season bean that is still mostly green. Our first frost of the season is forecast for Friday, 10/07/22, about a week earlier than usual for us. Mother gives and Mother takes.

My brother got started on our beans last Wednesday, and the combine broke down on Thursday. Ain't that the way it goes some times.

They are pushing hard in Minnesota now. I heard around $13-14 for beans, is that good?

Most of the corn is still up, I don’t think anyone has started it yet.

We’ll get started in a week or two. Hard to say what normal is anymore, I’d say 30-40. This year we’ll be in the 0-10 range. Raised a lot of 50+ bushel beans from 2015-2020. Were in the midst of the worst drought since 1980. 80 was hotter but the drought this year has lasted longer. Apparently the beans are much tougher than they used to be. No one around here can figure out why they’re even still alive, let alone making and filling a few pods.

yeah, same in N.C. Kansas, we're seeing every where from 15 bu./acre up to the mid 20's per acre. Not seen that low in many years.

Corn will be better.

Corn harvest here is about over with. The heat and drought dried it down earlier than usual, and the low yields let the combines run faster. Not a good crop at all.
