Not a great picture but do you recognize this WWII fighting knife? Anyone have any stories about them?

Since no other stories appear I will tell mine. Just found the knife out of sheath, Made me dig out the other which was given to me by my Grandmother after my Grandad died almost 60 years ago. First knife I ever carried outside of pocket knives and gutted my first deer with that "machette". I don't know the story where "Pappy" got it but the one I just got was supposed to have come from a serviceman who served in WWII.

No story on the one I have, just a knife I wanted. Its a beast. A WW II quartermasters knife. Case had one as well.

Thanks, Steve. Never thought that much about them except some sentimental meaning. You are right about it being a beast!

Search: Frank Trzaska Q knives. Good info about them.

Many years ago, I read an article about the knife and decide to get one. Eventually I found two for a fair price at a gunshow that were definitely used. One of them came from an estate and had the soldiers name on the sheath and google searching found out he had won some medals during his service.
I gave that knife to my brother and now have the Case XX 37Q version. Its a user that never gets used.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

The ones I have will never get used either but but have sentimental value as one of the few things I have that belonged to my Grandad.

My father in law was a corpsman on an LST in the Pacific. He told me he had a "hunting knife" that he carried, and promised it to me if he could find it. Fast forward a couple years and we were cleaning out his place after he went to assisted living, and found the big Cattaraugus in the bottom of a file cabinet. When I told him we found it he was pleased, said he wanted me to have it. I asked about the faded writing on the sheath, and he said those were the Islands he was on, bring it to him, and he would tell me the names. It was the only time he opened up, and said a few days after they left Hawaii he was treating the Marines for VD, and later giving those same marines morphine on the beach. Sadly he had a stroke before I brought the sheath to him, so I never found the names, looks like there were three, near the end of the war. When I find the number of the LST I'll post it, perhaps someone else will have a connection.I do carry it sometimes on hikes.

Very cool family heirloom M H. Late in the war i would think Iwo Jima and Okinawa would likely have been on the sheath. You may want to try side lighting the sheath to see if something legible comes up.
